This is the last of the books I started to read during Christmas. It’s the second book of a trilogy, but even without reading the first one (as was my case), you can easily follow the story.
It’s a book located in Seville, in 1607, and it’s written in old fashioned spanish (although beeing a modern novel). It narrates the adventures of Catalina de Solis, who although was born in Spain, has spent most of her life in the New World. She finds herself obliged to go back to Spain and satisfy her father’s wishes on his death.
It’s a stirring book, full of adventures and tricks. Although not being her best book (I would sincerely recomend to anyone to start reading her book “The last cato” published by Harper Collins in the translation to english) I would say it’s an enjoyable book, which brings you to another age and makes you forget about the present.
